There are several requirements for the CA Final 2027 trip that must be fulfilled in a specific order. You can more efficiently plan your CA journey if you are aware of each step, its time, and any associated costs, from ITSS and registration to SPOM, articleship, and the final exam.

CA Final 2027: What Happens After CA Intermediate?

Although passing both CA Intermediate groups is a significant accomplishment, it is not the last requirement to become a chartered accountant. Before taking the CA Final test, you must finish the Self-Paced Online Modules (SPOM), Advanced ICITSS requirements, registration, and practical training within the current CA course framework.

The general progression can be interpreted as:
CA Intermediate → CA Final Registration → Practical Training → Advanced ICITSS → CA Final Examination → Membership

You may organize your study, training, and exam preparation without missing any crucial requirements if you comprehend this sequence.

CA Final Eligibility and Registration

After passing both sets of the CA Intermediate exam, you are qualified to advance to the CA Final level.

Intermediate qualification and CA Final registration are two different processes. You can complete the required Final-level learning requirements, including the Self-Paced Online Modules, after registering for the Final Course.

Before registering, make sure to check the most recent ICAI site for the registration price and any other applicable charges, since fees and administrative procedures are subject to change.

Complete SPOM Along With Your Final Preparation

Self-Paced Online Modules (SPOM) are an essential part of the CA Final course requirements. ICAI requires students registered under the Final Course to fulfil the prescribed learning and assessment requirements for the modules applicable to their category. The SPOM modules are divided into the following sets:

  • Set A: Corporate and Economic Laws
  • Set B: Strategic Cost and Performance Management
  • Set C
  • Set D
Candidates appearing under the current scheme should complete the applicable SPOM requirements within the timeline prescribed by ICAI for their examination attempt. The subjects covered under Sets C and D, along with the applicable exemptions and completion deadlines, should be verified through the latest official ICAI guidelines.SPOM preparation should be planned alongside your regular CA Final studies rather than postponed until the final stages of your preparation. Completing the required modules on time can help you avoid last-minute eligibility issues.

Complete Practical Training

You go on to the practical-training portion of the course after passing both CA Intermediate groups and fulfilling the necessary prerequisites.
The duration of practical training under the New Scheme is two years. The two-year practical-training framework under the New Scheme is also mentioned in ICAI's 2026 release.
In addition to your final-level coursework, this stage provides you with practical experience. Completing the required training and other relevant requirements within the timeframes specified by ICAI will determine your eligibility for a certain Final Attempt.

Finish Advanced IT and MCS Requirements

Advanced ICITSS consists of two key components:

  • Advanced Information Technology (Advanced IT)
  • Management and Communication Skills (MCS)
Candidates registered under the New Scheme must complete the prescribed Advanced ICITSS requirements and pass the applicable Advanced IT test before appearing for the CA Final examination, wherever these requirements apply.

The ICAI conducts the Advanced IT test after candidates complete the prescribed Advanced IT training. According to ICAI's October 2026 announcement, candidates who have completed the required Advanced IT training must take the test before appearing for the CA Final examination. Therefore, candidates should plan their Advanced IT and MCS training in advance instead of postponing these requirements until the final stages of their CA journey. Check the latest official ICAI announcements to confirm the applicable deadlines and eligibility conditions for your examination attempt.

Prepare for the CA Final Examination

After fulfilling the applicable eligibility requirements, you can shift your focus towards preparing for the CA Final examination.Under the current scheme, the CA Final syllabus consists of six papers, divided into two groups.

Group I

  • Financial Reporting
  • Advanced Financial Management
  • Advanced Auditing, Assurance and Professional Ethics
Group II
  • Direct Tax Laws and International Taxation
  • Indirect Tax Laws
  • Integrated Business Solutions
Integrated Business Solutions (IBS) is an open-book examination based on case studies. Since the paper integrates concepts from multiple subjects, your preparation should focus on applying knowledge across different areas rather than relying solely on chapter-wise revision. Practising case-based questions and developing the ability to analyse practical business situations can help you prepare more effectively for this paper.

How to Plan Your CA Final Journey

Rather than managing each requirement separately, organise your CA Final journey into a structured sequence so that you can track your progress and complete the necessary steps on time.

  1. Clear both CA Intermediate groups
Fulfil the entry requirements for progressing to the CA Final stage.
  2. Register for CA Final
Complete your Final Course registration and stay updated on the applicable ICAI requirements.
  3. Fulfil SPOM requirements
Complete the prescribed learning requirements and pass the applicable module tests.
  4. Complete two years of practical training
Gain practical experience during your training period while maintaining a consistent study routine for CA Final.
  5. Complete Advanced ICITSS
Finish the Advanced IT and MCS components and pass the applicable Advanced IT test.
  6. Verify CA Final examination eligibility
Before submitting your examination form, review the latest ICAI examination notification to confirm the applicable requirements for practical training, SPOM, Advanced ICITSS, and other eligibility conditions.
  7. Prepare for both groups or your chosen group
Plan your studies around the six CA Final papers, allowing sufficient time for revision, question practice, and mock tests. Pay particular attention to the case-based nature of IBS, which requires you to apply concepts across different subjects.

CA Final 2027: Keep Your Timeline Flexible

It is not possible to determine your precise CA Final attempt by simply adding set months to each step. It depends on when you pass Intermediate, the start and finish dates of practical training, the completion of SPOM and Advanced ICITSS, and the eligibility requirements that apply to your exam attempt.
Additionally, the CA Final exams are now held in January, May, and September of each year.
Therefore, when preparing for your first eligible attempt, consult the most recent ICAI examination notification rather than adhering to a set year, such November 2029, for every student.
